Let’s not learn Egyptian Arabic “by topic.” Let's go through a day and see where the language really is. This approach quickly separates useful vocabulary from words that can be left for later.

08:00 – Neighbor and First Welcome

Start not with long monologues, but with sustained short exchanges: greetings, “how are you,” gratitude, simple reaction. The main task is to stop being afraid of the answer in Arabic.

09:30 - taxi

  • names of places;
  • Straight, left, right.
  • here and there;
  • Stop it.
  • numbers;
  • questioning.

11:00 - shop

Price, quantity, size, color and basic requests. Numbers are quickly becoming one of the most rewarding topics.

13:30 - cafe

The challengeWhat you need to know
Order"I want to..." quantity
Change the order"No..." "More..."
Clarify."Is there...?"
Finish.Ask for a bill.

16:00 - domestic problem at home

Air conditioning, water, electricity, door, time of the master's visit. This is where the personal vocabulary begins to differ from the textbook.

  1. Write down five things that really happen at home.
  2. Find 2-3 key designs for each.
  3. Practice the mini-dialogue.
  4. Use it in a real situation.
  5. After the conversation, write down what was missing.

19:00 - Little conversation

Don’t try to understand every word. Catch theme, intonation, familiar verbs, time markers, and context.

22:00 - diary of gaps

Do not write down all the unfamiliar words of the day. Write down five things you wanted to say but couldn’t. It's the perfect personal stuff.

What you don't need at the start

  • rare literary vocabulary;
  • simultaneous study of several dialects;
  • Perfect phonetics before the first conversation
  • A dictionary of hundreds of words without scripts.

The first useful Egyptian dictionary should fit on your normal day. When the six recurring scenes become clear, expand the world further.
