- Weekly experiment
- What a success.
- If motivation does not appear in a week
We will try to do the opposite for a week: not increase the pressure, but gradually transfer part of the control to the child. Motivation rarely comes from another "sit down for lessons" reminder.
Instead of constant reminders, one point of control
If an adult asks about lessons every twenty minutes, the memory function is already performed by the parent. Arrange for one inspection time.
Instead of an order, a limited choice
- first mathematics or English;
- start now or in 20 minutes;
- Do it at a table or in another quiet area.
- It's easy at first or difficult.
Instead of rewarding each step, there is visible progress.
“A month ago you couldn’t solve these problems, but now you can” shows competence better than endless trade “do it, you get it”.
Instead of “You’re Smart” – Action Feedback
| General praise | Useful. |
|---|---|
| You genius. | You found the mistake. |
| Well done. | You didn't give up a difficult task. |
| How capable you are. | You tried another way. |
Three motivational engines
- I can.The task is difficult but achievable.
- I choose.There is room for solutions.
- I know why.The goal isn't just about the mark.
Weekly experiment
| Day | Change |
|---|---|
| 1 | Reduce reminders |
| 2 | Select the order of tasks |
| 3 | Do not fix instantly |
| 4 | Noting progress, not evaluation |
| 5 | Ask where you need help. |
| 6 | Let the child plan the block himself |
| 7 | Discuss what worked. |
What a success.
- I remembered it.
- He started it.
- He asked for specific assistance;
- I fixed it myself.
- I appreciated the result.
If motivation does not appear in a week
- Do not automatically increase the punishment.
- Go back to the reason.
- Check the complexity.
- Check the overload.
- Discuss the subject with a teacher or teacher.
The goal is not to create a child who always enjoys any homework. The goal is to develop the ability to start, continue and complete meaningful tasks without constant external management.
