On the fictional planet Lero, a year lasts 240 days, there are three moons, the capital is Nara, the main culture is blue grain, and Mount Tyre reaches 4100 meters. Don't go back to the text. We'll need it later.

Why dating is not the same as memory

As long as the information is in front of you, it seems that it has already been learned. But the exam and the real job require another action - to get knowledge without a page in front of you.

Method 1 - Retrieval practice

  • close the note;
  • answer specific questions;
  • restore the circuit;
  • explain the topic;
  • solve a problem without a sample.

Method 2 – Repeat in time

MeetingAn approximate momentWhat do you do?
1Right away.First inspection
2Later that day.Short reproduction
3Next dayQuestions
4In a few days,New challenge
5Later.Control without a clue

Method 3 - mixing

30 identical tasks in a row teach mechanics. Mixed types make you first determine which method is needed.

Method 4 – Explaining in your own words

  1. Close the material.
  2. Explain it to a beginner.
  3. Find a place where the explanation has become hazy.
  4. Just go back to this place.
  5. Explain it again.

Random factsWhat's really confusing

Back to Lero.

  • How many days does a year last?
  • How many moons?
  • What's the capital called?
  • What do they grow?
  • What's the name of the mountain?

Trying to remember now was the training of memory. Not rereading, but extracting creates a useful effort.
